.The Group established its business in Egypt in 1993, whereas its joint ventures in Egypt included Alexandria Carbon Black, the sole producer of carbon black in the MENA region, and Alexandria Fiber which was established in 1994 with an initial capacity of 20,000 tpa, presently increased to 2,85,000 tpa,
.Alexandria Fiber commercial production commenced in February 2006 with the first phase of operations designed to produce 18000 mt per annum of raw white and gel dyed acrylic tow, tops and fiber, for sweaters, blankets, carpets, knitwear, hosiery products, automotive textiles, furnishings, and various industrial applications. AFCO is currently implementing its second phase which will increase plant capacity to 58,000 tonnes by 2009.
.By the end of 2008, the Group has started establishing a $500 million project in Egypt specialized in producing silicon cells needed to generate energy from the sun. The project to be established either in Aswan (Upper Egypt) or Sokhna area (Suez region, the Red Sea)
.The Group is to introduce its textile business in Egypt through establishing Seppy Louis for Textiles.
